Food administrator states that without price fixing more than 200 million dollars would have been gouged from the public. He credits the shipment of sugar to Europe and warns the shortage and price pressure will continue.
Ensign Krylenko, commander in chief of the army, told Bolshevik headquarters that Germans are moving large numbers of troops rapidly to the western front against the Allies and to the southwestern Russian front.
Leon Trotzky notes German delays in replying to Russian terms as peace delegates delay a key meeting until Monday. Germany denies passports to Haase Ledebour and Kautsky, raising Russian concerns. Mrs M Moriarty of 50 Bromley Park Roxbury found Walter Taubert a roomer dead after a fall from stairs Monday night. Authorities consider a fractured skull the probable cause and police will investigate.

Washington December 25 quiet ceremonies marked Washingtons first war Christmas. President Wilson stayed with his family as messages from Baker and Daniels conveyed praise to soldiers and sailors. A Christmas tree for his grandchildren was lit at the White House. Mrs Wilson gave gifts to about 60 local children and over 125 turkeys were given to White House employees.
Associated Press reports German brutality toward American troops in France. A sentry was found with his throat cut after a German raid, with a bulletin noting he was killed after capture. Other bulletins describe Germans forcing women and children from homes into the snow as occupiers take over.
Boston marked its first wartime Christmas since joining the allies with prayers and charity. The observance sought to ease the burden on the poor and lift spirits while honoring those who have gone or are ready to go over the Atlantic.

The 23 year old Stephen Holman of Cambridge was found on Clifton Beach Marblehead and police say it was self inflicted after previous suicide attempts. Frederick Potter of Marblehead discovered the body while in his car and notified police who sent it to Michaels' Undertaking. His father Charles R. Holman of Strathmore Hall Cambridge was later informed.
Leon EF. Garmache of Grant Street Leominster was found soaked on the Front Street dock in Chelsea shortly after noon yesterday. He leaped into the water to end his life, then crawled out, was taken to Frost Hospital, and is held for observation.
Boston telephone operators begin polling strike ballots at Washington Hall from 10 AM to 10 PM. A conference with U S Labor mediator David Benjamin and the union adjustment board aims to secure a maximum wage agreement.

Twenty six sticks of dynamite were found on the outskirts of West Quincy by several boys, each wrapped in a newspaper and hidden behind a brush pile. Quincy police and fire officials could not identify any suspect. Federal authorities will be asked to assist due to nearby factories and shipyards involved in war contracts.

Report says American troops and Mexican bandits exchanged fire near Candelaria Texas after bandits raided the town and hanged Michael Welsh a U S mail carrier. The raiders killed the driver and looted mail sacks before fleeing across the line. Welsh's body was carried to Valentine and two Mexican passengers in the stage were shot.
