Daniel O Reilly personal counsel to Harry K Thaw is in a private sanitarium in New York with pneumonia following general weakness. Thaw's second trial is scheduled to be called on Jan 6. O Reilly recently returned from a sanitarium at White Plains.
Booth Tarkington the author was arrested in Indianapolis on December 25 for resisting an officer. Detectives Manning and Samuels allege Tarkington kicked Samuels during a dispute.
Halifax Nova Scotia December 25. B B Crown inshield, famed Boston marine designer, forms a syndicate to deploy two turbine steamers on the Boston Halifax route next summer completing the run in 17 hours. A representative surveys the project in Halifax.
The United States fleet anchored at Port of Spain Trinidad for Christmas with greens on masts and rails. Forenoon boat races featured a half mile officers race where the Kansas crew won by a half length ahead of Georgia and others including Virginia Louisiana New Jersey Illinois Missouri Vermont Rhode Island Minnesota and Maine.
Rear Admiral Evans observed from the flagship as the chief petty officers raced one mile. The Kentucky crew won by half a length with Vermont, Alabama, Illinois, Kearsarge, New Jersey, Connecticut and Minnesota close behind.

70 year old Henry Mc Gann and 70 year old Elizabeth M. Barnard of Tilton New Hampshire wed at Rev T Richard Peedle home in Central Falls Illinois on December 25. Mc Gann listed as widower and this his third marriage.
New York December 2. Mariano Gaeta a 25 year old barber was shot dead on the door of his home at 30 East Twenty-eighth Street. An assassin fled but police have a strong description and are searching the East Side. Detectives believe the killing stems from a Black Hand feud begun in Sicily.
David Broderick aged 65 was found dead at 1 Sweat court by his wife at 8 45 pm. His neck was broken and it is unclear if a slip or sudden weakness caused the fall. Medical Examiner West was notified. He worked for Etna Woolen Mills and is survived by a widow and two daughters.
Lawrence Delmour once a prominent Tammany Hall figure and confidant of Richard Croker dies at age 69 after a long political career. Known as Whispering Larry for his reticence, he succumbed to the grip.
Thomas Mackenzie aged 44 was found dead in his bed at 108 Marcella Street Roxbury by friend Roger Tanzey of 2 Conant Street after they were resting together last night. The report notes the death occurred on Christmas night with no further details provided.
