The fishing schooner Juno enters Boston Harbor on Christmas morning after hitting Devil's Back and a floating dredge, then running aground on a ledge. Damaged bow and helpless in the tide, crew prepared to abandon ship before the vessel slid free, ending a two week fish run off Brown's Banks.
Leaving the fishing grounds on Saturday the craft reached the harbor entrance when it struck Devil's Ledge at about 2 a.m. The vessel broke keel and opened seams, taking on water as Captain Doggett and the crew fought to refloat the fish-carrying craft. Flood tide and drawing sails helped save the ship as they abandoned dories.
