Mrs Jack Gardner to Open Back Bay Palace With New Year Party

Mrs. Jack Gardner plans a very small New Year’s watch night at her Fenway palace to mark the old year’s end and new year’s start. Only a handful of intimate guests, plus workmen, will view interior rooms before the public memorial opens to Boston in time. Mrs Gardner, loyal to the Church of the Advent, oversees completion while Mrs Sprague’s widow purse explores new palaces elsewhere in the city.

Snowy harbor scene notes restrained decorations and ship movements

Vessels of many nationalities filled Boston harbor as snow kept flags down and crowds wary. The Min tonka remains missing after towing mishaps, while other ships such as Cambrian King and King Stonian shift lines. Towboats reduce winter work, captains change on several vessels, and a new three masted schooner departs for New York to load coal amid high freight rates.
