Mrs Diebod wife of Michael Diebod a prominent German hero killed herself at her Chestnut street residence this morning after suffering influenza which caused temporary insanity in the New Brera area.
Norwalk report states William Wilson of Bridgeport, longtime manager of the mill at Southport, was instantly killed at Stamford depot while en route to Darien to spend Christmas with friends. The accident occurred on December 25 as he traveled from New Canaan.
The remains of the Rev. E Gerry will be cremated in Brooklyn, New York, tomorrow. His $4,000 estate will be divided between his daughter and congregation after funeral rites. West Randolph Congregation notices indicate the service details and final disposition.

The same night Charles Horton’s jewelry store at 119 Perkins Street East Somerville was entered similarly and about 50 dollars worth of plated ware taken.
At 265 North street two women Lizzie Millard and Lizzie Cassidy were assaulted with shears by Thomas McCann 28. Millard cut on the neck Cassidy cut on the right hand. Wounds treated by a physician. McCann arrested by Division 1 officers for assault and battery on the women.
A three story brick dwelling on Smallman street in Pirrspunc was destroyed by a natural gas explosion shortly before 1 AM. A. F. Pritchard, his wife, three children, a hired boy and a servant were buried in rubble but survived with burns and bruises. Gas leak in cellar. Pritchard struck a match to locate a basket and triggered the blast. Property loss estimated at $4000.

He beat her with a flatiron after an argument over delay in giving him money for drink, then confessed to a neighbor and was arrested. The couple had a quarrelsome marriage since their 1889 wedding.
In Lawrence on December 25 a man John O Hara and his seven year old son were seen fleeing a burning house at 654 Essex street where Mrs Fannie O Hara died from burns. O Hara was arrested and Edward Metivier held as a witness. A second blaze in a boarding house at 203 Canal street killed Patrick Cline and left James Langan with serious injuries after a man fell from a window. Continued on second page.
Cincinnati December 25 The Cincinnati Post Christmas festival fed five thousand poor children at Music Hall with a candy box and a present per child. Fifteen hundred were served at a time as a music program entertained the total crowd. Ten thousand voices sung America with a grand organ accompaniment. The Post raised five thousand dollars to cover the dinner costs.
In Denver on December 25 the Graves trial spent the session debating the admissibility of a San Francisco letter from Dr. Graves to Mrs. Barnaby. The defense argues the letter shows Graves lacked her Denver address, casting doubt on sending whiskey to her. In Prota Ill last evening Maggie Arrigan, a former public school teacher, shot at Prof N C Dougherty the city superintendent of schools and pierced his right ear. Daniel W Pratt, a respected Farmington resident, died after a long illness at age 60. Appointed postmaster by President Cleveland in 1887, he served two years, and he was a longtime choir leader and chorister in the Methodist church. He leaves a wife and three children.
Warnam December 25. Mrs. Henry M. Ryder nearly perished when lighting a lamp at her Lexington Street home. A dropped match set her woollen wrapper aflame as the doorbell rang. Miss Veronica Sheehan, a domestic, wrapped a rug around Mrs. Ryder and smothered the blaze.

Christmas day at the White House saw the President’s grandchildren enjoy a toy filled tree.
