Widowed Bride Fires Father Kills Bridegroom at Vowed Marriage

Des Moines reports Walter Scott and Miss Clara Dawson wed at 3 pm. After eloping, Dawson’s father G R Dawson forbade contact, had Clara declared insane, and later released. He opposed the match. following their marriage he shot Scott four times, killing him instantly and was jailed as guards watched for possible mob action.

Smashup on the Fitchburg injures none at Medford Street

Two Fitchburg freight engines collided near Medford Street crossing in Somerville yesterday morning partially wrecking both locomotives and delaying traffic for a time. No injuries were reported.

School Committee Dignity Talk Ends Year at Pettigrove Farewell

At last night’s school committee meeting a heated debate over a resolution honoring retiring president Fred G. Pettigrove ended with two dissenting votes from Gallivan and Strange. Dr Edward H Dunn lauded Pettigrove’s two and a half years of impartial leadership. Final session notes include detailed budget requests for 1895 96 and proposed for 1896 97, totaling about 2.81 million dollars for schools.
