The Rev. Elwood Worcester, rector of Emmanuel Church and noted advocate of mental healing, is ill with bronchial pneumonia at his Marlboro Street home. Illness began 10 days ago and he cannot resume duties this week or next per Dr. Alfred Worcester of Waltham. Christmas services will be led by Rev. Samuel McComb.

Rector of Emmanuel Church Ill With Pneumonia

The rector of Emmanuel Church, in Marboro Street, is bedridden with bronchial pneumonia and shows no improvement. The Rev Mr McComb and his physician say the illness is serious and he cannot resume duties this week or next. The report notes prior neurological work by Rev Dr Worcester on the Emmanuel movement.

Old Colton street buildings named fire menace in South Boston

Medical Examiner George B Magrath called to 13 Colton street to view a man found dead there says the unoccupied wooden structures along Colton street are a fire menace to nearby factories. He will urge tearing them down after consulting District Fire Chief Perkins. The buildings have long housed hobos and served as a Knights of the Road rendezvous with ten old mattresses found in the death site.

Jules Claretie a member of France s immortals and administrator of the Comedie Francaise died in Paris today from influenza. Born December 8 1840 in Limoges he spent most of his life in Paris where he wrote criticisms and books and served as war correspondent in 1866. He commanded a battalion during parts of the Franco German conflict around Paris.

Banker Henry Whitney Munroe Held in Contempt

Henry Whitney Munroe head of Munroe and Co. was found in contempt of court by Judge Morton in federal court for failing to obtain 66 checks from his Paris partners as ordered by subpoena. The checks drawn on the Paris house were issued by Mrs. Mary A. Dolan, a Brookline modiste known as Mme. Driscoll, recently indicted in the smuggling probe. Munroe faces sentencing Friday.

Explosive Found in City Hall Safe in Cleveland

In City Hall former health department quarters a safe yielded 12 six ounce bottles labeled Dynamite glycerin. Officials and staff panicked as a report of a bombing attempt circulated. Justice Preble Dies at Home in Charlestown

Associate Justice William H. Preble of the Charlestown Police Court died last night at his home 291 Bunker Hill street Charlestown after a long heat related illness. He had been unable to return to the bench since summer. Survived by wife five daughters and a son. He was a prominent member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company.
