Edwin M Snow M D city registrar of Providence Rhode Island died suddenly Saturday night of heart disease aged 68. He was a Pomfret Vermont native and practiced medicine in Holyoke Massachusetts during the Asiatic cholera outbreak of 1849. He moved to Providence in 1850 and served as city registrar from 1855 until his death. He was an inspector of hospitals in the sanitary commission during the war and chaired the commission that built the State prison at Cranston. He helped found the American Public Health Association in 1872 and served as delegate to international congresses in London and St Petersburg.
