A brisk storm battered the coast with heavy seas delaying many coastal ships. Sailors sought safe harbors as steam vessels faced delays and wrecks were avoided by nightfall along the shoreline.
Moran asks Police Board for officers to gather proof of liquor sales in four hotels whose licenses he voided. Board refuses, then Moran seeks help from State police Chief Shaw. State officers expected to assist Moran as Board consults Attorney-General Parker. Common Council orders papers from public buildings dept. turn over to Moran.

A three story brick block at 285 and 287 Causeway Street caught fire with panicked residents fleeing rooftops and fire escapes. About 80 people from seven Greek families escaped, aided by Deduro Russo who raised the alarm and by officers and firefighters who rescued the Baptiste family and a lodger amid smoke and falling debris.

Dennis J. Kehoe, 82, of Roxbury, says two Black men robbed and beat him at 5 Kirkland street after he had just secured a $500 settlement and costs from a brewing company for injuries. One assailant was later captured by police. the other escaped in a crowd. Kehoe was hospitalized with head and facial wounds.
