A skating tragedy at Spy Pond Arlington ends with the drowning of John V. N. Hatfield Jr. of 80 Pleasant Street and an unnamed girl. Rescue crews recovered both victims after the ice gave way last night.
In Pittsfield on December 20, Mrs Edward Nolan of Lenox and her five children aged 6 6 4 and 1 a half were found in only nightclothes barefoot and bareheaded beside the State highway near Snake Hill. The thermometer showed 15 degrees below freezing.
