The record shows a license vote in Boston with Yes and No tallies. In 1914 the Yes vote reached 53 431 with 30 380 against, a 23 051 majority. In 1915 the Yes total was 46 115 to 31 877 against, a 14 238 majority.
Boston voters approved a wet school committee measure yesterday with 53 431 yes to 30 328 no 2 780. The license forces won decisively led by Billy Sunday and anti saloon groups. No votes totaled 1497 less than last year with three wards voting no by small margins Ward 24 Dorchester 1300 yes 1429 no Ward 23 West Roxbury 1798 yes 2031 no Ward 25 Brighton 1337 yes 1345 no.
No license advocates won two city races as four municipalities near Boston voted yesterday. North Adams moved from wet to dry for the first time in 29 years, Fitchburg shifted from last year’s 72 license majority to a dry margin of 84, while Peabody and Quincy stayed dry.
Britain and her allies insist on full reparations and guarantees that Prussian militarism ends. They will not accept peace without knowing Germanys terms and demand a just settlement before any end to hostilities.
