Wabash Railroad Receivership Appoints Bond and Duties

The Wabash receiver bond is set at 100000 and he is authorized to take charge of all Wabash lines in Illinois under thirteen mortgages and earlier bonds. He must follow Chicago court orders within Judge Gresham’s jurisdiction and other courts where applicable. The receiver will cover current expenses taxes rents and traffic balances and preserve income for bonded debt while awaiting January 1 start. Humphreys Tutt are removed and must surrender to Judge Cooley. An Indianapolis order will follow and Julian Davis seeks similar Texas orders for Ohio lines.

Taxation of Pullman Cars Challenged in Iowa Tax Case

A St Paul special reports the Pullman Peace Car Company sought an injunction in the U S Circuit Court to stop Iowa from taxing rolling stock used by railroad companies. Iowa law taxes all railroad property in sight, including Pullman sleepers, though not owned by the railroads using them. Pullman property is valued at $200,900.

Gould Eyes New Missouri Pacific Extension From Hannibal

Jay Gould contemplates extending the Missouri Pacific from Hannibal Missouri northeast to Chicago via Peoria and Streator a 200 mile line. The move would challenge the Chicago Burlington & Quincy and create a direct Chicago to Texas corridor competing with Atchison interests and the Texas traffic.

The Housatonic railroad held its annual stockholders meeting in Bruncerort Conn. The board reported gross earnings for the year of 690015 dollars, up 44156 from the previous year.
