Boston Post faces dwindling Post Santa funds as toy stock runs low. Volunteers from Harvard, Boston police, Knights of Columbus, teachers, and Girl Scouts drum up bundles but demand for 1500 touring cars to deliver gifts remains unmet. Bullet-Proof Auto Guards Mail Across Boston

Boston becomes one of the few cities to deploy an armored bullet-proof vehicle for transporting valuable registered mail. The post office uses a six-vehicle fleet with reinforced steel walls and a blown-out windshield design that deflects bullets upward. Portholes allow interior gun use as a marine gun crew transports large sums between railroad stations and banks.
