After 7 am on New Year’s Day parcels up to 11 pounds and 72 inches in length and girth will be received at post offices for transport by Uncle Sam at about 25 percent less than express companies. The parcels post launch on Jan 1 is described as the government’s most tremendous business enterprise, affecting the nation’s 100 million people.

Custody of the couple's son F Augustus Heinze Jr born December 6 1911 goes to the wife with father to finance education after age five.
City Councillor Ernest E. Smith pushed a probe into boosts in assessors valuations of 14 Pleasant street properties slated for city use in widening plans. The probe implicates several influential figures, including Mayor’s brother James T. Fitzgerald and Martin Lomasney, with Daniel J. Kiley noted as counsel for owners of three properties.
Sir Thomas Lipton arrived in Boston and endorsed Mayor Fitzgerald as successor to the late Whitelaw Reid for Ambassador to the Court of St James. The Irish yachtsman praised Boston's mayor as a top diplomat and said he would be a fine representative for America at the English court. Joseph H. Mullen a 48 year old laborer of 1105 Dorchester avenue was instantly killed shortly after 5 pm when an electric car crushed him against a wall in the Field’s Corner car barn of the Boston Elevated Railway Company. He leaves a widow and six children.

He urges Allied nations to send yachts, hopes to sail Atlantic to Pacific via the new route. He praises Mayor Fitzgerald as ideal ambassador choice. He arrived in Boston at 6 12 PM with Col Neill and staff, welcomed by Fitzgerald.
Miss Clara Cain aged 23 died by inhaling illuminating gas at her lodgings 171 Eustis Street Roxbury early yesterday. The death is attributed to suicide and the elevated conductor on the Jamaica Plain surface car line is said to be responsible, with Miss Cain leaving a note stating illness and despair over betrayal by a married man. She lived with her uncle George W. Cain.
