Boy Messenger Stops Runaway Horses on State Street

George Sullivan, a 75 pound 16 year old messenger for Mutual District Messenger Co, jumped before two running horses on State Street and seized the bit ring to halt them. Spectators watched as he held on 30 to 40 feet, then the horses stopped. Manager D J Hearn announced Sullivan will be advanced to the first division without examination for meritorious conduct, boosting wages from 4.50 to 10 per week.

German Workingmen's Association Culture Exhibition Held in Arbeiter Hall

Last evening Ar beiter Hall hosted a German Workingmen's Association exhibition of physical culture drawing a large audience. chief instructor Louis Schmitt directed the program with class demonstrations. Schmitt received a loving cup, Captain Charles Kulkmann gave the address, Miss Marie Gutermuth delivered the gift, and the assembly shouted Gut Heil on Kulkmann's challenge.

Storti Executed At 1230 This Morning

Luigi Storti met death by electric chair after a two year life battle, calmly receiving three shocks. Clergy, warden, and witnesses described the procedure as humane and concluded with a precise time sequence from 12:15 start to 12:40 death. The ceremony included Father Ubaldus's prayers and a final will directing burial by Andrew Badaracco.

Boston Cave-In Buries Five Men at Kingston Street Site

A cave-in during cellar construction at a new Boston block on Kingston street killed Jeremish McCarty of Everett and injured four others. Injured are Samuel Hawkins, Michael Flynn, Dominick Annase, and Walter Bennett. all were hospitalized with serious internal and skeletal injuries.

Millions of logs swept away in Maine flood damage

Millions of logs on the Penobscot and western Maine rivers have been swept away. Log losses total about 7,000,000 feet valued between 80 000 and 100 000 dollars. Dam reports and rail outages hover as trains are canceled or delayed across the state.
