W. L. Farrell and crew member Canning were taken to a safe house after their three masted schooner of 298 tons broke apart in heavy seas. Canning, unable to swallow coffee, recalled the second wreck and said it would be his last. The shipyard Apple River Nova Scotia built her in 1892 and owner C. F. White of Parrsboro insured her with Nova Scotia companies. The Sea Foam House gave shelter and aid to the shipwrecked men.
