Sawtell Murder Trial Opens in Strafford County Court

In Dover New Hampshire the Sawtell murder trial of Isaac B. Sawtell opened in the new Strafford County Court House with Chief Justice Doe and Justice Bingham. A crowd filled the room as 92 jurors were panelled and questioned, eighteen challenges used, and the trial scheduled to proceed after a court recess.

Prosecution Opens Case In Triple Charge Against Brother Murderer

At 31t5 o'clock the court reassembled as the county attorney begins his address to jurors. The indictment, read in three counts, accuses the respondent of willful murder of his brother Hiram in Rochester on February 5 and of being an accessory before the fact in New Hampshire to murders in Maine and in New Hampshire, with jurors sworn to hear the case.
