Marshall P Wilder dies suddenly at his Dorchester home
The longtime horticulturist and civic leader Marshall Pinckney Wilder died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday at his Dorchester residence, after a day of routine activity. He was 80, born in Rindge New Hampshire, and led the New England Historic Genealogical Society and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. He had built a worldwide reputation in pomology, nursery work, and floriculture, and helped found the United States Agricultural Society. Funeral services will be held at Second Church in Dorchester tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Daniel T. V. Huntoon of Canton died Wednesday at his father in law Colonel French’s home after over a year of brain disease ending in paralysis. Born Sept 4, 1842, he was a prolific genealogist and local historian who revived the grave of General Gridley, documented Eliot, and prepared a Canton history. He served as Canton superintendent of schools and was a past master of Blue Hill Lodge Masons. He leaves a widow and two sons. Funeral Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Canton residence.
