Spellbound by Ysaye at Boston Opera House
Eugene Ysaye appeared as soloist for the Boston Opera Company's third Sunday concert amid last minute changes due to Capiet illness. Horace Britt conducted and the program included Chabrier Overture to Gwendoline Saint Saens La Jeunesse a Hercule and Lalo Symphonie Espagnole. Ysaye delivered a masterful, if uneven, performance thrilling the audience with a great tone and magnetism while Britt conducted with authority and the Saint Saens piece drew criticism for length in 1918.
