Reading Railroad plan approved for $100 million mortgage reorg
A Philadelphia despatch notes the Reading Railroad trustees plan completed and approved by the board. The plan creates a new $100,000,000 general mortgage first lien on all properties with $55,421,700 to retire prior mortgages and $24,681,000 to cover interest on the old mortgage. It includes new 5 percent income bonds and cash assessments for junior securities and stock. The plan aims to reduce annual rentals and guarantees to under $2,350,000 and outlines lease continuations or surrender with asset releases to cover arrears, plus a note that since June 1, 1884 the company earned $241,087 more than reported.
