Early today a fire in the Probate Court room at the county courthouse in Poritz Buek Maine caused total damage of 846060. With no town fire apparatus the blaze spread rapidly and damaged the adjoining county jail where prisoners were moved and none escaped. they were later returned to their cells once danger subsided.
The Highland Light of Wellfleet, Massachusetts, seized by the Vice-Admiralty Court at Prince Edward Island for fishing within the three mile zone, was sold today for 5800 dollars. An agent for the minister of Maine and fisheries was the buyer. The vessel will be fitted for a cruiser and her outfit sold.
