O Brien Ordered to Appear at Commission Session

London December 14 The Parnell commission adjourned after Attorney General Webster asked for Tuesday for guidance on how to proceed regarding Mr William O Brien and a United Ireland article invoking plain speaking on forged commissions. Justice Hannen ordered O Brien to appear at 10 am tomorrow, and a warden of Morton College was to be served notice to attend the January meeting. O Brien was in Dublin and likely unable to attend, so the court adjourned to January 15.

In Ottawa on December 14 Sprorau reports that most Canadian press outlets condemn Mr. Butterworth for proposing in the House of Representatives the acquisition of Canada. Sir John Macdonald declines to rate the move, citing legislative respect and future official discussion. The Citizen called Butterworth’s annexation a consummate impudence likely to provoke strong press reaction. Free Thinkers Meeting Angers Lake View Mayor

A Social Turners' Union committee met Mayor Bold enneck of Lake View to seek reversal of a ban on tonight's meeting. They argued the group is a social, not political, body and that its aim is to hear Frau Hedwig Heinricht Wilhelmi speak on The Providence of God from a tree thinker’s view. Civil Service Extension Adopts Harrison Policy Resolutions

The New Haven Civil Service Association at its seventh annual meeting adopted resolutions urging an extension of the civil service law and urging the incoming administration to enforce it per the Republican platform and Harrison's acceptance letter.
