In Areamont Maine on December 14 George W Tussey Fred Weilman and W C Wyman who sold liquor to Old Joes murderers were arrested and pleaded not guilty. They were bound over to await the Bath grand jury and to be committed to Augusta jail. Their photos were taken. The dealers who sold the rum pleaded guilty. Judge Tallman fined each 81 dollars including costs. In Augusta Maine Lewis E Hopkins and Lorenzo H Turner charged with the Richmond murder were brought to the city and jailed. Crowds gathered at the station and shouted for their lynching. They were escorted to the jail by officers.

Woman burned to death in Springfield fire trap
Mrs Barbara Steiskal a Bohemian four years old living with her daughter was burned to death at Wear Springfield while other occupants worked at a cigar factory.
