Boston political circles saw a major sensation as Chairman Joseph P. Lomasney of the Board of Schoolhouse Commissioners resigned effective immediately. He is president of the Hendricks Club and brother of Martin M. Lomasney, Boston’s ward boss.
James A. Gallivan urged supporters to back his bid to defeat Curley, citing endorsements from John F. Fitzgerald and the Boston Post as signs Curley’s defeat was imminent. He claimed votes for Peters would be wasted and framed the race as a winner-take-all contest.
