Consulting engineer Henry Krumb reviews the Cactus property stating 150 acres held with options, surface outcrops of altered schist show strong porphyry copper indicators and justify prospecting. The Hamilton shaft 300-foot level looks promising with copper sulfides appearing, while 400 and 500-foot levels are water logged or oxidized in parts. Krumb recommends a deep drill in the center of the schist area to check rock thickness and subsurface conditions, though he downgrades commercial ore prospects below an igneous layer.
In Valdez Alaska officers of the steamship Dora report the Olympia cargo likely cannot be recovered and the ship not saved after visiting the wreck yesterday and removing perishable freight. The report follows news of the wreck and the Dora’s salvage of perishables.
