In an Oberlin interview, President Beckwith claims Dr. Chadwick knew of his wife Mrs Chadwick's involvement before Europe trip and recounts telegrams and two $10,000 checks paid for Carnegie notes. Beckwith urges Chadwick and Reynolds be prosecuted.
Harvard hosted the first pop night at the Union with nonalcoholic drinks like ginger ale and lemonade. Undergraduates gathered around tables as the orchestra led by J. W. Johnston played lively tunes and new songs met with success.
A small steamer was driven ashore near the Spey mouth in a gale. All ten crew members perished, with rescue efforts failing. The tragedy occurred near Glasgow with local authorities investigating the incident.
Governor-elect Douglas awaits an official War Department permit allowing General Miles to become adjutant general of Massachusetts. The Shaw mut Furniture Company at Tremont Street enters its 30th year as a leading Boston house furnishing broad stock of bric-a-brac and up to date gift items. An extensive Christmas sale begins next Monday with a $100 plan to furnish four rooms. The line features imported carpets, brass beds, desks, dressing tables, etchings, and smoking den furnishings. Cash or easy credit terms, unmarked delivery wagons, and inspected stock are offered for customer satisfaction.
Thomas W. Lawson answers Col. Greene of Greene Consolidated Copper in a half page ad. He defends his anti system stance and asserts he will crush it if needed. Lawson recalls past dealings and says he will stand by Greene while warning others who attack him. December 18 1904.

In Milford New Hampshire on December 13 a defective powder charge exploded injuring Henry Fisher and Henry Vignault slightly while Harry Bishop a married father of five lost both hands. The men had buried a heavy charge that failed to detonate and when they hauled it up the blast occurred.
Charles E. Keniston, a wealthy publisher, sues for separation and custody after claiming his wife Emma Keniston suffers from a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde personality due to drink. He alleges years of beatings and a life in danger, while Emma counters that she drinks little, that he was often the aggressor, and that any punishment was justifiable due to his absences and infidelity.
Dec 13 Watertown employee John Fay was struck by a large Boston Elevated snowplow while on Mt Auburn street and narrowly escaped being run over. He is an town worker.
In Lacrosse Wisconsin Judge John A Daniels argues that rising wages for women reduce marriage. He contends modern prosperity allows girls to support themselves, proving matrimony was never love’s end but dependence on men. He predicts marriage will fade as commerce grows.
