John Daly formerly of Portland Prison told of his incarceration and the sufferings of his comrades to a large Boston audience at the Boston Theatre. A man likely Joseph LeClair, 84, of Fall River, attempted suicide by shooting himself at 2:30 this morning in a second floor room of a lodging house at 54 South Margin street. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital unconscious and not expected to recover. A coincidental link is Billy Leavitt, recently freed from Charles Street jail for Alice Brown’s murder, who rooms there and warned reporters not to implicate him. LeClair arrived Tuesday and had been ill in his room. a memorandum with his name and address was found.
