Grace Gangi tells Lynn police she fired the pistol that killed her father at their home 207 Union Street Saturday afternoon. After hours of questioning she changed several versions of the events leading to the shooting.
Commander Frank E. Curtis of the American steamer Columbian was aboard when a German torpedo sank the ship off the Spanish coast. He reached Boston in safety amid the rescue efforts and inquiries into the loss.
The British steamer Caledonia was sunk by a German submarine on December 4 after attempting to ram the U boat. The captain, Captain Blaikie, was captured. Lloyds in London reported the Caledonia, of 9223 tons gross and 600 feet length, may have been lost.
