The United States sends a firing cease ultimatum to Mexican leaders Carranza and Pres. Gutierrez. Officials report formal notes outlining terms for a halt to hostilities and a path to negotiations.
Washington warns Provisional President Gutierrez and General Carranza that US forces will fire across the border if their troops continue firing into American territory. The ultimatum was sent from Naco Arizona, echoing prior Huerta era tensions and demanding immediate ceasefire across the line.
Messages sent to Carranza and Gutierrez warn that if Mexican fire into the United States continues, the United States may deploy force to defend American lives. Three batteries of field artillery are in place at Naco, with Brigadier General Bliss in charge.
Worcester report says David Lerner, 23, ended his life by inhaling gas after a roommate stole his wedding savings of 93 dollars from 2 Blake Street. His body was found fully dressed by his mother. police and surgeons found life had long departed. He planned to marry soon and start a home. The theft occurred about a week earlier and left him despondent.

A New York Representative since 1889, he chaired the Ways and Means Committee and led the drafting of the Payne Aldrich tariff bill, a key Republican tariff authority. He was born June 2 1843 in Hamilton New York and educated in Rochester and Colgate.

Six German submarines attempted to enter the Dover stronghold and attack the fleet at Admiralty Harbor but met with rapid and accurate fire from shore batteries and anchored warships. The exchange lasted about half an hour with effective gunfire repelling the attack.
