Curfew Enforced as Somerville Fires Spark Recreation Ends

Last evening Somerville rang the curfew for the first time since the ordinance was in force Friday. Fire alarms sounded at 9 PM as few children were out. police found several boys near a sheltered fire off Allen Street, in a district prone to rapid spread if fuel ignites. The youngsters were sent home. no prosecutions were reported as the ordinance remains in effect.

In the House of Commons today Mr. G C T Bartley moved an amendment to the address to the throne asking for regret over a Lord Salisbury assigning many of his own family to offices under the Pere. L Connolly Arrested for Drunkenness and Fire

James Doherty of 76 Chelsea street Charlestown fell from an electric car at Main and Baldwin streets in Charlestown last night. He sustained a facial cut and was later detained for drunkenness.

Committee Battles Over Loan Bill In City Council

President Daniel J. Kiley has not named a cens to form a twenty five member committee to consider a loan bill exceeding five and a half million dollars. The committee reports Thursday night after a day of electioneering and thorough scrutiny Wednesday. Kiley faces trouble assembling a panel and wants to expose published lists as incorrect. The panel may be chosen this afternoon after long talks at City Hall with M M Leemasney and Councilman Stone of Ward 7.

Queen Wilhelmina Intervenes After Kruger Arrival

Amsterdam daily Mail reports Queen Wilhelmina wrote to European rulers on Paul Kruger’s European arrival seeking aid for intervention but Berlin blocked the plan. France and Russia reportedly offered conditional support, yet the effort collapsed.
