Medford Maniac Firefight Endangers Kiley Family

A Medford sign painter William C. Felkin armed with a revolver and sabre attacked James Kiley’s home on Fells avenue. He fired more than forty shots, shattered windows, and slashed furniture as he hunted the family. James Kiley and his son were wounded, five children narrowly escaped death, and Felkin was finally overpowered after a fierce struggle. The attack spanned ground floor and upstairs rooms, with Felkin firing through panels and breaking doors before Riley, the elder brother, fought back despite malaria. The frenzied assault left homes in panic and the assailant subdued only after a heroic effort by the residents.
