Public Building Bills Stalled by Senate Veto Risk

Washington notes Congressmen, including Mr. Arnold, await Senate concurrence on a Pawtucket post office building bill shrinking from 100000 to 75000 dollars. Rhode Island will push for the project as it’s a revenue source, while officials anticipate possible veto messages on thirty three public building bills and fear of similar action to Cleveland’s Bar Harbor veto.

Republicans Aim at Quick Senate Action on Elections Bill

About forty Republican Senators caucused late tonight to devise a plan for expediting Senate business. Western members demanded immediate action to ease financial stress while supporters of the elections bill urged swift, feasible steps. A decision was reached to keep the elections bill before the Senate this week as the caucus outlined 13 hour daily sessions and potential cloture if needed. A six member committee was authorized to craft financial relief with finance colleagues, reporting to next Monday’s caucus for final policy.
