Symphony denial over suspected color exclusion at Washington concerts

Major Henry L. Higginson denied reports that the Boston Symphony Orchestra barred colored patrons from Washington performances. Reception 10 Bishop Lawrence at Boston Museum of Fine Arts

Bishop William Lawrence and Mrs Lawrence hosted a reception marking the bishop’s 25th anniversary consecration. About 4000 Episcopalians from Greater Boston attended, and the event was the first evening reception held at the new Museum of Fine Arts.

Massachusetts Grangers Exhibit At Tremont Temple

The 41st four day session of the Massachusetts State Grange drew over 1200 farmers and wives to Tremont Temple. Governor Foss and Councilman James A. Watson welcomed visitors to Lorimer Hall as farm products from many towns were displayed including apples potatoes corn and shellfish. Educational displays and a quail cultivation slogan accompanied talks on rural banks and farm relief.

Plan for Sanitary Markets in Boston Proposed

The Women's Municipal League of Boston plans three large markets for meats fish and vegetables to be stored handled and sold under sanitary conditions. The plan follows a weeks long survey of 2600 Boston markets by inspectors including one man and two women whose report prompted the proposal.

Reports on city markets fumes of unsanitary conditions discussed

A league committee chaired by Mrs. William M. Wheeler outlines findings from a city markets survey. Inspectors visited all provision stores, asking yes or no questions on description stock and cleanliness. The report supports citywide sanitary standards and suggests new markets in Roxbury South Boston and East Boston, possibly privately owned, with strong patronage potential from about 2000 league members.

Inauguration Reception Planned in Hall of Flags

Governor-elect Walsh announces a reception after the inaugural in the House chamber. To ease crowding he plans a separate evening visit to each militia company at its armory or drill hall following the ceremony. He spent yesterday at the State House consulting department heads.
