Boothbay Harbor Treasurer Charged with Embezzling 7000
Fred C. Blake former Boothbay Harbor treasurer from 1906 to 1909 was arrested on embezzlement charges amounting to about 7000. He pleaded not guilty and the case was continued to December 20 for further hearing. The action stems from a deficit revealed when he left office and bondsmen covered the earlier shortage. Unpaid taxes and bookkeeping lapses are blamed for the alleged deficiency. Blake also served as treasurer of the Boothbay Harbor Water Company.

In Kansas City on December 7, divorce reformers were startled as W. W. Wright the newly appointed proctor to investigate uncontested divorces was barred from a suit. Judge Guthrie sustained the objection noting the proctor had no direct involvement in the case. Double Negative May Upset Father's Will
In Allentown Pennsylvania on December 7 a contest looms over the will of Thomas Remaly of North Whithall. He disinherits his five children by a first wife and leaves a $20,000 estate to his second wife and her six children. A clause reads These children shall not receive no part or share of my estate whatsoever. Attorneys say the double negatives could support a will contest and alter the disposition of the estate.
