Six Day Bicycle Race Opens at Madison Square Garden

The six day race began at 12:06 AM in Madison Square Garden New York with 28 riders from the United States and abroad. Star entrants include Welsh champion Tom Linton and English long distance specialist Charley Chappelle. Local hopes rest with Albert Shoch and Charley Ashinger as the crowd enjoyed a lively start and a slippery track. The first mile was completed in three minutes by Tom Linton.

Tragic Bullet Ends Life of Local Worker

In Lawrence Charles Trenholme, 35, a Washington Mills employee, killed himself with a pistol on Saturday afternoon. His body was found this morning in his Essex street room after he failed to appear for breakfast. He had been living alone since his fianc ee's death about a year ago.

Boston City Election Notice and Voting Details 1896

City voters will gather at designated polling places to elect a Street Commissioner three year term seven Aldermen for the ensuing year eight School Committee members three year term one member one year term and three Common Council members for the ensuing year. Archbishop Martinelli to Visit Martinsville for Augustinian Event

Archbishop Martinelli will stay in Martinsville from December 29 to January 3 with the Augustinian Fathers. He attends a Y M C A banquet in Brockport and will preside over a special high mass for children at St Marys Church on New Year’s Day and again Jan 3. The visit is social in nature.
