Sidney Stevens, agent of Ludlow Associates, says over 200 workers face eviction from company houses this week. About 100 men arrived Saturday to fill strike vacancies, with the company offering to rehire strikers at reduced wages.
The Ludlow Associates have deployed a large guard contingent at their power plant and at the Red River bridge dam on the Chicopee river three miles from town to prevent interference or damage. Rev. George W. Daniels denounced the evictions as merciless and argued that a strike in Ludlow would be justified if the situation worsens.
Bishop Daniel Ayres Goodsell former resident bishop of New York since 1803 and head of the Methodist Episcopal Church in New England from 1904 to 1908 died at his New York residence following an operation for a carbuncle. He was 86 and had celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of his ordination last year.
Miss Mary T. Larkin aged 32 of Nahant died after severe burns received at St Lukes Home for Convalescents Roxbury while hospitalized Saturday for undetermined causes. She died later at Massachusetts General Hospital.
A Boston woman died from burns sustained after a low coal fire ignited her flimsy kimono while she sat in bed hoping heat would ease pain. Nurses and matron Mrs Mills acted quickly to smother flames, roll her on the floor, and summon Dr Francis P Denny. The patient, Miss Larkin, had been recovering from rheumatism at St Luke's and Massachusetts General Hospital, with care at the home since Oct 27.
The Boston 1915 management urges every child in Greater Boston to visit the Living City Exposition before it closes next Saturday night. Free tickets were distributed to Public and Parochial School pupils with school consent. Parents are urged to accompany children to gain educational value and view the exhibit of opportunities in future study.

Sailors fear she may have been lost to the storm, not just delayed.
Chicago attorney and diplomat William J. Calhoun admitted that Secretary Knox offered him the post of minister to China. He denied reports he declined and said Knox urged reconsideration after he telegraphed he could not accept.
Cambridge police received reports of two houses entered with goods stolen. In North Cambridge Mrs. Emma B. Evans, 25 Mount Pleasant Street, lost gold pins rings and a bracelet during a brief absence. Mrs. Sidney Rogers of 16 Blanche Street twice resisted a thief who attempted to grab her wrist bag last night.

In New England, rain Monday or Monday night, colder Tuesday with snow in the north and rain in the southeast, fair in the southwest, winds shifting to brisk southwest. Steamers to European ports face variable winds turning south and southwest, becoming high with rain by Monday night toward the Grand Banks.
