Yale scientists prepare for Venus transit observatio
New Haven observers at Yale College set up a heliometer telescope in the new observatory lot with Prof. Newton directing the transit plan. Prof. Waldo Kirschner and Prof. Wilson will photograph from the east tower using a 10 foot focus telescope and eight inch aperture while O Sherman at the old observatory tracks weather conditions. A weather concern may spoil the rare event, but the equipment and preparations aim for optimal study and the best possible photographic views. Crawford of the Standard Time Co assists Prof. Wilson in refining focus for Wednesday’s work with sun photography today.
