Fire discovered by an altar boy at St Charles Catholic Church in Woburn noon mass. Rev Henry A Walsh and Rev Father Walsh directed orderly evacuation of about 700, preventing panic. Baseball travelers return from Cuba with no profit

The last of the twenty two players who went to Cuba last October to teach the Cubans baseball have returned to New York. Barry of the Boston team is among them. They report no earnings but a pleasant trip. William Jennings Bryan cheered Nebraska football in Lincoln as Minnesota won 20 to 12. Bryan hosted 1000 Minnesotans at his house before the game and attended with his son. Alexander L. Dornin of Lehigh, class of 1903, was elected captain for next year’s football team. The Boston Combination basketball team defeated Hartford 11 to 8 and Providence in other matches. Jack Doyle criticized George Davis for mismanaging the New York baseball club, saying Davis’s pride ruined the team’s prospects.

Altar Moves Through Years to Nest in Advent Chapel

An old marble altar, famous for its many relocations, will be dedicated today at the Church of the Advent on Brimmer Street. Originating fifty years ago at a Merrimac Street mission, it moved to Green Street then to the Church of St. John the Evangelist on Bowdoin Street, and now rests in the Advent chapel as the Chapel of All Saints.
