President Roosevelt allegedly redirected an engineer officer to Cambridge to coach Harvard during the Harvard Yale football game. Lieutenant Ernest Graves, known as Pat Graves, was the officer assigned to assist Harvard while en route to Manila.
Lieutenant Graves faced orders to depart for the Philippines but was refused leave by the War Department. Charley Daly arranged a meeting with the President, arguing Graves’ presence as Harvard coach could beat Yale. After Daly’s appeal, Graves was promised leave and joined Harvard, with the President later thanking Graves in a letter to fullback Ernest Ver Wiebe.
Tang Shao Yi special ambassador of China and Prince Tsai Tu arrive in Washington to express thanks for Boxer indemnity payments. The entourage will present gifts and letters of rare value while officials review China’s financial system and tariff revision preparations.
Dr Laura A C Hughes an eleventh hour School Board candidate is barred by election commissioners for submitting independent nomination papers with 473 signatures short of the required 1000. Officials say other names are improperly included and she will appeal to the Ballot Law Commission after the filing deadline at 5 p m.

Rescued by Snowdonian with Captain Jones, the survivors reach the Azores and join the Romanic voyage. The derelict lumber vessel was owned by James B Drake of Bath Maine.

Five children and one man bitten by a small mongrel receive Pasteur treatment as tests reveal rabies. Authorities order muzzling of all dogs for 30 days and patrolmen are to shoot wandering or rabid-acting dogs on sight.
The Boston Board of Health plans drastic action to restrict dogs. Dr Samuel H Durgin chair warns dog owners by mail that uncowed dogs may be muzzled or leashed with a $25 fine for owners and the dog to be shot. The board asks Commissioner O Meara to enforce the law.
George T. Angell of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals denied that Frank Blood’s death at Boston City Hospital was caused by hydrophobia. Blood, bitten Oct 31, worsened last week and died after showing rabies symptoms. Angell called the disease not a dog bite illness and criticized muzzling dogs.
