Douglass and Harriman Clash in Lakewood Open

In New York on November 30 the open tournament at Lakewood New Jersey featured a clash between H M Harriman Middlebrook champion and Findlay B Douglass ex champion. Douglass shot 86 to Harriman’s form but would have won by 4 up if match play. Walter J Travis earned the day’s best score and gold medal while Charles S Ransom placed second.

Fire at Beacon Street Stable Kills Ten Horses

Early today a fire at the rear of 300 North Beacon Street, owned by T. W. Hollis heirs and occupied by Edward Welsh, suffocated ten horses. Alarm rang at 2 10 a m from Box 88. Cause undetermined. Property loss about 2000 dollars. stock and equipment valued at 3000 dollars.

Cyclist Injured After Collision Near Harvard Bridge

George Lusser of Chapmans street Charlestown was struck by a cyclist on Massachusetts avenue near the Cambridge side of the Harvard bridge. An ambulance conveyed him to the air Hospital with a severe head wound and multiple cuts.

Winthrop Club Golf Ends Kickers Tournament

Minister Wins Golf Mixed Foursomes at Winc Ret Noveraane

The Winc Ret Noveraane Golf Club hosted a members mixed foursomes tournament. Mr and Mrs Frank L Hunt posted gross 111 and net 106 while Mr and Mrs Even K recorded gross 115 and handicap 18. The Rev J P Haw was among the winners in a struggle noted in this brief report.
