Massachusetts members of the Bryan party report Henry M. Whitney may return as candidate against John B. Morgan for governor. Whitney has consulted with leading Democrats and is being urged to reconsider his withdrawal. It was believed he would stand again.
Saturday Sunday and Labor Day trips operate on the Boston and Worcester trolley air line. Cars depart Park Square every 15 minutes with subway cars joining from Chestnut Hill using extra cars.
The Boston & Maine railroad, amid fears of an ice famine in Boston, secured Interstate Commerce Commission permission to cut freight rates on ice with five days notice rather than 30. President Tut tle warned a future shortage could cause great suffering, noting rates may extend to new points without prior schedules.

William H. Latimer known as Handsome Harry, head of the Provident Investment Bureau, surrendered in Philadelphia amid $2000 bail. He, Frank Marrin, alias Judge Franklin Stone, and Stanley Francis, alias Arthur S. Foster, were indicted in 1905 for conspiracy and mail fraud linked to a get rich scheme and the Storey Cotton Company collapse. Francis was sentenced to five years. Marrin and Latimer fled to London. Latimer had fled earlier to London and met Marrin and Sophie Beck.
Today he leaves Grand Central for Stamford at 10 o clock and will speak in South Norwalk Bridgeport and New Haven with New England Democrats. He speaks on the New Haven green at half past 3 and attends a Bridgeport reception and dinner at 6 followed by an address in the Armory. Tomorrow he departs Bridgeport for Jersey City then Newark then returns to New York for dinner with newspaper men. He will rest Sunday and Monday he goes to Chicago escorted by a committee.

William Jennings Bryan returned from abroad to a massive welcome in New York's Madison Square Garden. More than 20,000 inside and thousands more outside cheered as he spoke on government rail ownership, with Hearst receiving chorus of three cheers.
The Garden hosts a lively event as Governor Folk greets a packed crowd while Bryan and his wife arrive with loud ovations. Mayor Tom L. Johnson of Cleveland is introduced as chairman and William Randolph Hearst appears in a special box to cheers.
