Extraordinary hay yields in Northampton Hampshire county farm
J H Demond reports two crops yielding 72 tons of cured hay on 12 acres and seven tons on two acres, a record high for New England farming. The piece also discusses sailing versus pasturing for cattle, experiments with green and dry fodder, stall feeding versus pasture, and seasonal crop timing amid dry weather and bare pastures.
