Doves Tie With Reds After Dark Controversy

In Cincinnati on August 29 the Doves and Reds drew 3 to 3 when umpire Eason halted play for alleged darkness in the eighth inning. The game, started late due to a parade, was praised as bright and well played until the controversial finish. Rowan and Curtis pitched strongly for both sides, with the Doves taking the lead early and the Reds rallying to force a tie before the stoppage. The decision transfers the game to Boston for completion on the next Eastern trip.
