Captain James McDonald arrived in the city aboard the Yarmouth with his fifteen man crew from the Gloucester schooner Masconomo wrecked near Port Joli Head Nova Scotia. They had 89,000 pounds of halibut and were aided by the City of St. John and Yarmouth steamer crews after a fog bound strike. A violent tornado and cloud burst hit Bloomington yesterday afternoon. In thirty minutes dry creek beds became torrents flooding Norris avenue near the city. Mrs Riddle and Mrs Roberts of Heyworth and their two daughters were crossing the valley when their horse and carriage were swept from a bridge and the two children drowned. Pawnee Bill's Wild West show tents awnings and seats at the fair grounds were destroyed. About five thousand people were panic struck but no serious injuries reported.
