Farragut Club Boxing Carnival Attracts Big Boston Crowd

The Farragut Club held the second night of a boxing carnival at West Newton Street Armory with near 3000 attendees. Bantams Jimmy Kaveny and Mike Sears opened six rounds of brisk action, Sears showing steady improvement and delivering creditable work alongside Kaveny. Knights Templars Host Guests In Haverhill Visit

Haverhill Commandery welcomes Cincinnati Commandery No 3 and Louisville Commandery No 10 arriving from Boston by train at 9. They are greeted by the city band and escorted to the Masonic Temple for an address and lunch. A morning pilgrimage to Whittier’s birthplace and Merrimacport precedes a clambake at Black Rocks, with a steamer return and a City Hall banquet before departure.

Buzzard s Bay August 23. President Cleveland and private secretary Thurber occupied Gray Gables most of the day. Knights Templars from the West visited the President s summer home, some driving to the Gables and others viewing from the opposite shore.

Rain Halts Syracuse Providence Game With Stars Leading Six Five

A heavy rainstorm halted the Syracuse Providence baseball game early in the fourth inning with the Stars leading 6 to 5. Barnett and Hodgson were being hit hard as the Stars tallied nine hits to Providence three. Minnehan pitched and starred in the early action before the stoppage.

Open house at Hotel Bellevue draws hundreds in St Louis

St Louis Commandery No 1 hosted an open house at Hotel Bellevue attracting nearly five hundred visitors to its headquarters. The reception started at 4 pm and a Carthage Band concert drew a large crowd in the evening before the committee departs for Boston.
