Brig Matilda Sunk After Collision at Providence Harbor

Brig Matilda of Boston arrived with 300 tons of coal from Baltimore. While anchored in the lower harbor she was rammed by the steamer Oceanus bound for New York, stoving her bow and causing her to fill and sink in eighteen feet of water at high tide. The Oceanus continued, likely uninjured, and may assist in salvaging after cargo removal. In Toronto, the International Cricket Match ended with the Americans narrowly beating Canada after Canada led 73 63 in the first innings and 44 in the second.
