William E. Hines of Boston faced a charge in Hingham District Court for malicious destruction of $250 worth of property after slashing five dresses in rooms at Murray's Hotel Hull where his wife worked. Judge Pratt remanded him for grand jury in $400 bail.
Five year old Dominico Meranto was injured when he tripped on a broken milk bottle on East Third Street South Boston. A ragged shard tore a deep wound in his abdomen and he remained unconscious at Carney Hospital with poor chances of recovery. He lives with a family of seven at 3 Emmet Street South Boston.
Miss Margaret Phelan of 10 Clark Street Cambridge, 27, vacationing in Franklin Mass, left there Sunday at 1130 am for home and has not been heard from since. Parents reported her disappearance to Cambridge police last night.
Washington August 27 Two billion dollars may be added to the total of bonds authorized at this session, making about twenty one billion dollars available to the government for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1918.
A triple shooting in a West End apartment at 97 Myrtle Street left three people seriously wounded. Antonio LaValle, 23, is detained at Joy Street police station on charges of shooting after ten shots fired. The victims remain unnamed in available text.
Washington Aug 27 The government will fix the price it pays for 1917 wheat tomorrow by the Garfield committee. The new rate will take effect Sept 1 when the food administration begins operations. Reported to be slightly above $2 a bushel.
Marie Sarnie aged 28, and Minnie Cristoforo aged 26, with multiple bullet wounds, are listed at Massachusetts General Hospital. Frank Rappallo aged 26, also wounded, is at Relief Hospital. Neighbors say LaValle has haunted the Sarnie vicinity for a week.
