Milwaukee August 27 The American Bar Association spent ten minutes on whether negro lawyers should join. A Dickinson resolution was adopted requiring that a negro candidate for membership have his race indicated to the executive committee.
Attorney General George W. Wicker esham declared the resolution makes William H. Lewis a permanent member after he and two other Black lawyers were ousted by the executive committee for race. Lewis, Butler R. Wilson and William R. Morris were later seated. a chaotic session followed as debate stalled and a motion passed. Fifty four lawyers from at least as many states prepared to present a formal recommendation to the association.
The Hotel Touraine strike may spread to other Boston hotels if the International Hotel Workers' Union demands are not met. The union's Edward Blochlinger warned a general strike could occur if concessions are not offered to bellboys and chambermaids after a planned conference with Edgar Pierce of the Touraine corporation.

In New York on August 27 more than 150 striking fur workers attacked four women near Fifth Avenue and Thirty-fourth Street opposite the Waldorf Astoria as they walked to A. Jaeckel & Co. on Fifth Avenue. The mob sought to strip the women's clothes.
Guards Brown and Beaser, ex police lieutenants, were overwhelmed as a mob blocked Fifth Avenue for over 15 minutes. West Thirtieth Street Station reserves dispersed rioters and seven arrests followed. Women workers in the fur shop faced attacks during the strike begun July 29, prompting special officers to escort workers to and from the Elevated and subway. Brown, escorting two young women, was recognized near Fifth Avenue and West Thirty-fourth Street.
Five mill men summoned as inquiry begins into a dynamite planting during the Lawrence strike. One man reportedly died by his own hand. Breen, convicted planter, to testify. other mill officials to be called as witnesses.
Postmaster Louis S. Cox and four mill treasurers including George S. Kunhardt Ivor Sjostrom Frederick C. McDuffie and Charles Walcott testified before the Suffolk grand jury about dynamite planted during the Lawrence strike. Mill builder Ernest W. Pittman shot himself in Andover before the grand jury spoke. John J. Breen had been fined 500 for his role in the affair.
Boston retailers warn that shoe prices will climb 10 to 20 percent due to higher material and labor costs and overproduction of passing styles.
William L. Ratcliffe of the Thomas G. Plant Company warns that rising material costs push up shoe production expenses. He notes hides and finished parts are at highs not seen since before the Civil War, elevating prices for women’s shoes from 338 to 39 cents per pound and increasing costs by 312 cents per pair, with other parts rising likewise.
Hugh S. Gibson charge d'affaires of the American legation in Havana was assaulted by a Cuban newspaper reporter as he entered a hotel. Gibson was not seriously injured and the assailant was arrested. The Cuban Secretary of State expressed personal regret to the charge d affaires.

A Somerville man Brainard A. Shute aged 45 of 12 Mt. Vernon street died by self inflicted gunshot in the left temple about 9 PM in Sullivan Square playground. Local authorities report the death as a death by own action with no outside involvement.

Edward Cody aged 12 of 121 Child street Jamaica Plain is dying at City Hospital from injuries suffered when he jumped onto a moving Hood Company milk wagon yesterday afternoon. Eyewitnesses say he lost balance and fell beneath the cart.
