Henry Ferron, wanted for an axe attack on Mrs. Flora Rivers in Lowell, was ejected from the Nashua police station as he attempted to surrender in unintelligible French. A Lowell inspector arriving five minutes later sought local aid to locate him.
Ferron fled after visiting his mother and changing clothes. He spoke little English and sought a Lowell officer, then returned to Nashua where police found a blood stained coat and hat. A woman gave him a used coat and straw hat, and Flora Rivers, the assault victim, wounds she suffered early this morning leave her in critical condition with near fatal neck and shoulder gashes.
Philip A. Clark faced local Police Court arraignment on a Columbus Ohio fugitive charge for larceny of $150. He was held on $400 bond awaiting Columbus officer arrival. Clark claimed his wife’s illness prompted travel to seek treatment, leading him to sell furniture to cover expenses.
George F. Ormsby seeks Governor Draper for a special attorney to prosecute alleged conspirators in Washington for defrauding the United States in a Boston child kidnapping case. An overspeeding automobile caused a collision on Hale street near Ocean between an express wagon and Miss Harriet Magee’s coupe. The wagon driver Charles Goodridge was injured. Magee escaped with no serious harm while her coupe and horses suffered damage.
Elevated crews relayed curves at Milk and Federal streets and diverted Milk street cars via Franklin and Federal streets to Postoffice square. Starting 8 PM tonight southbound Mattapan trains will divert from Congress and Devonshire to Washington and Summer streets, likely through Monday morning.
