Spectators watched as a bulldog and a shaggy Newfoundland fought in the water during a swimming meet at Ten eam Beach. Two girls near the dogs quit the race, but the event did not spoil a strong day of competition led by Minnie Conley who topped the points tally with wins in diving and sprints and a second in the mile. Marion Gibson followed close, winning the mile and placing in multiple events as dozens of young swimmers competed across age groups and underwater disciplines.
